Dr Fabio Savastano
Graduating with honors in Medicine and Surgery in 1987 from the University of Naples Federico II, he completed his postgraduate specialization in Orthodontics and Gnathology at the University of Padua in 1990. Since 1991, he has been in private practice in Albenga (Savona, Italy), where his clinical work is focused on functional diagnosis and rehabilitation of the stomatognathic system.
He serves as President of ICNOG (International College of Neuromuscular Orthodontics and Gnathology), is a member of ICCMO (International College of Cranio-Mandibular Orthopedics), and is a member of the ERS (European Respiratory Society), in addition to participating actively in numerous international orthodontic and functional organizations. He is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences on Neuromuscular Orthodontics and is involved in advanced professional education. He is also an Adjunct Professor and Director of the Master’s Program in Neuromuscular Orthodontics and Craniomandibular Disorders at Universitat Jaume I in Castellón, Spain.
In 2023, he published the book Neuromuscular Orthodontics: A Clinical Guide, in which he explains and documents his diagnostic and therapeutic approach through clinical cases followed for up to 30 years after treatment, with a strong emphasis on stability, function, and the management of TMD-related conditions.
Neuromuscular diagnostic protocols and the resolution of craniomandibular dysfunctions represent the core of his clinical and scientific work. He also serves as President of the Italian section of ICCMO (www.iccmo.it).

Over the years, his professional path has remained consistently focused on craniomandibular disorders, with particular expertise in the diagnosis and management of TMD (temporomandibular disorders). He integrates orthodontic, gnathologic, and neuromuscular principles within a clinical model centered on physiology and long-term stability. His medical background supports a comprehensive, whole-patient perspective that considers postural, respiratory, and neuromuscular factors as part of an integrated evaluation. When appropriate, he works in close collaboration with other healthcare professionals—including ENT specialists, speech-language pathologists, osteopaths, and other specialists—to develop truly multidisciplinary rehabilitation plans.
